I suppose for $50 one shouldn't expect much, and not much is exactly what one does get. But anyone on an extremely tight budget (and the right carrier) It's a good bargain.Enjoy the savings!

I've prepared a Roundup review from one of the Blue phone user below.

I got the Blu Energy X Plus in November. 5.5" screen with a big battery for $112 (it was on sale but was regularly only around $129, I think). I use it on Straight Talk which uses Verizon and AT&T towers, depending on your phone. My biggest gripe is that Blu doesn't work with Verizon which are my preferred towers in my area.

It's a very pretty phone compared to the other cheapies. A nice display but I have noticed a bit of streaking once in a great while recently, but only with certain odd images (perhaps lots of white). Just replace the launcher with something from the Play store and you'll probably be happier with the interface. I've used Google Now and Nova. Both are better than what the phone comes with and they're free.

Mine has dual SIM slots but I only use one. It takes a micro SD card (mine has a 64GB).

I really don't worry too much about Android updates because no company ever seems to update their lower phones. Just buy a new model which will have a faster processor, etc, whenever you really really want the update. I can't say I've ever run into an app that wouldn't run on any out of date Android I've ever had.

People seem impressed when they see mine and are surprised at the price.

Yes, the camera could be better. Once every couple of weeks it will do a random reboot shortly after turning it on. I really can't complain too much. Whenever I decide to swap phones, I suspect it'll be another Blu. It's not perfect but I'm not going to pay $500 or more for a supposedly more reliable phone

  1. I've been using blu for at least 3 yrs. Very happy and get asked all the time about my cool phone. I have tech savvy friends and they all love it l. I've even turned a couple skeptics in to blu users. In fact I think all my friends that don't have phones through their work use them now!

  2. I've had my Blu Vivo for a few months now. It is one of Blu's higher end phones (or was when I bought it) and I think I paid about $250. So I can't really speak for the $1000 models they're praising in other articles. But I LOVE it. Sure it's not the absolute best phone you can buy, but it is the best value for your money by far. I had a Blu Studio before this one and loved it too (I broke the charging port when I plugged in in the wrong direction when I wasn't paying attention *cringe* Incidentally, the Vivo has the new usb type c which can go in either way). As the article mentioned, if you don't need the absolute best picture phone out there, or the best audio available, there is no reason you shouldn't be saving money and buying an unlocked phone if you're on a GSM network. And with Blu, you're not going to sacrifice much, but you will save HUNDREDS of dollars. And as for the updates, maybe I just got lucky, but a lack of updates hasn't bothered me AT ALL, with either of my Blu phones. In fact, when I got the Vivo, the issue was that some of the apps hadn't been updated for the most recent version of Android that was on the phone! If you get a newer model, you'll probably be fine for quite a while before the lack of updates is an issue. Glad there's finally an article to back up what I've been telling all my friends! Thumbs UP

  3. That's all great! BUT.....I bought BLU Life ONE X off of Amazon from amazon seller. Tagged at $149.99 +tax. USA. And have had the phone for several months. It works fine. Yea its not Samsung, LG, Sony or HTC....but it works...and my son plays a ton of games....calls txt...pictures video....and skype....it works. Some features aren't there ...so what...no cellphone can offer real computer or laptop abilities. I also purchased preorder BLU r1 hd from amazon and amazon seller. If BLU becomes a real problem Amazon will cut ties with BLU and Amazon will provide me with solutions. I'm tired of wasting money on cellphones and cell service that just doesn't provide what they claim. BLU may be bad for you in South America. But my personal experience BLU has been the best option.
Cellphone companies and service providers have been ripping people off for too long. BLU is righting that wrong...or they will fall off if they burn Amazon customers. So your breach of contract and claiming you work for BLU and have seen tech problems...one is prob illegal i'm sure you signed nondisclosure agreement...and two its technology and yes there are always issues and bugs with tech....
I really see BLU stepping up and finding solutions ....especially when making deals with Amazon....if they don't fix and make better...they won't last. Your not providing anything new or ground breaking by breaching nondisclosure agreements....technology always has issues...even big brand names...like Samsung etc etc....how about get real intel to help the company and consumers make BLU better...instead of griping about how bad or cheap or easy cellphones are made....BLU pricing on cellphones should make you see its worth making better. But if you choose to be a thorn...I hope you find yourself in legal trouble....its time to be a solution instead of the problem.

  4. "Blu is the American contender, and one of the most successful, in a group of phone makers I call the "local heroes," which focus on their local markets rather than starting with a global strategy.

Wiko in France and Cherry in the Philippines partner with big Chinese makers. "

Blu does the same thing that Wiko and Cherry do. All of Blu's phones are rebranded models from Gionee and a few other OEM's. The reason they aren't sold around the world is because the same models are sold in a dozen countries under various names like Allview, Walton and Kazaam. All of them are made in China or India. The only thing local about Blu is that their offices are based in the US, all of the product is fresh off the boat from China.

But that isn't a bad thing as nearly every phone is made in China these days. Blu sells some very good phones.

  5. This wide variety is also possible due to the wide price range as we can see with Videocon latest android mobile.
